The individual functions of this new facility are expressed as distinct forms under the umbrella of a large, cantilevered roof. The roof is both a symbol for shelter and a shading device to reduce internal heat gain in the summer months.

Service areas are contained within the perimeter walls. The lower roof over these areas reflects natural light upward onto the underside of the main roof and then into the building; illuminating the interior without raising the internal temperature.

Large sliding doors provide opportunities for expansion into a series of external courts adjoining the park. Within a very tight budget, the building has become a generator for greater community activity, beyond the limitations of its physical size.
